Cool Artists: Camille Rose Garcia

There are some artists whose style is so very different from anyone else around that their work can show up and even without a name you just know its their work. I think Camille Rose Garcia is definitly one of these artists. I think of her work as creepy, cute  and beautiful all at the same time. Just recently at Barnes and Noble I even saw that she did all the artwork for a newly released version if Alice in Wonderland and seriously it is awesome! Here is just a sample of some of her work:

Recipe: Base Teriyaki Sauce

One of my boyfriends favorite places in the world is a local restaurant chain called Tokyo Joe's. I'm sure every city had something like it with curry bowls, edamame, fast sushi and of course teriyaki bowls. Whenever he goes there he always, always order the chicken teriyaki bowl with vegetables. He could eat that for every meal, everyday eating out is too expensive and he absolutley detests the bottled stuff. Thus I went to The Japanese Kitchen to figure out how to make it myself.
The first time making it seemed like a long process because I babied it and stirred the whole time but now I know you walk away for a bit and just let the sauce reduce on its own and it will be fine.

Here is how to do it:

The Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup mirin
-1/4 cup sake or rice wine
-1/4 cup soy sauce
-2 Tablespoons sugar

*These ingredients can be easily found at local Asian supermarket.

Pour all ingredients in a small pan. At this point the consistency of the mixture should be like coffee or water. Put the pan on low to medium low heat for 25 minutes checking back only occasionally.

After 25 minutes check the consistnency. It should be
thick like a syrup.

Here is how it should coat a spoon. At this point take it off the heat and let cool for 10 minutes.

After letting the sauce cool for a bit. Drizzle over rice, meat and vegetables and enjoy! =)
